Topic: Hemp's Historic Come Back

Ryan Loflin and Loflin Farms are the first American farmers in 57 years to grow, successfully harvest, and process a commercial-scale industrial hemp crop in the United States. This accomplishment has been chronicled internationally in major news outlets such as The Huffington Post, The New York Times, The Denver Post, The Guardian, LA Times, Yahoo news, etc.

Ryan is a fourth generation farmer who was raised on an alfalfa and cattle production farm in Southeastern Colorado. He graduated from Springfield High School and went on to become certified as a welder. Years later he moved to the mountains of Colorado to ski and become a skilled finish carpenter. In 1997, Ryan and his business partner started a construction company in Crested Butte, Colorado. Red Mountain Builders built high end custom homes in the small ski town for many years. After retiring from construction, Ryan created a company that dismantled old barns to recycle the materials to be used in the green building industry. After creating Rocky Mountain Hemp, Inc., Ryan recently returned to the family farm. The company is dedicated to becoming a leader in the legalizing of industrial hemp growth in the United States. Ryan is planning to plant a sizable crop of hemp in the spring of 2014. Rocky Mountain Hemp intends to continue pursuing the development of hemp seed genetics, perfecting the nuances of hemp farming in Colorado, and creating several hemp processing facilities in his hometown of Springfield. There is a new magazine in the works as well, "The American Hemp Farmer."
