WASHINGTON, DC - October 17, 2013 - We hope that you have already made plans to attend the upcoming HIA Conference in Washington, DC, which will be held on Sunday and Monday November 17th-18th. If not, please don't wait any longer. We have lined up a number of very interesting speakers for the conference. Two more of the speakers - Fred Kirsch, Hemp for America, and Anndrea Hermann, The Ridge International Cannabis Consulting - are profiled below.

Remember that the Regular Registration period ends tomorrow, October 18th. Tomorrow is also the last day to make your reservation at the Phoenix Park Hotel, which they graciously extended for us, and get the HIA group rate. This year, after the suggestion of many members, we have also added a second day to the conference. This will be an Organized Lobby Day and you have the opportunity to attend one or both days. Silent Auction & Gift Bag Opportunity - As we do every year we will have a Silent Auction to fundraise for the HIA. Please bring items to the HIA Conference and donate them for us to auction off. 2013 HIA Conference & Lobby Day - General registration is $300 from June 15 to October 18; Late registration will be $350 from October 19 to November 10; Door registration will be $400. (Subtract $50 per additional company attendee.) The registration fee includes lunch and dinner on Sunday, November 17. (The hotel offers breakfast in their restaurant next to The Dubliner pub.) It also includes attendance to our Annual General Meeting, panel discussions and awards dinner, as well as the opportunity to network with other members. It also includes the Lobby Day on Monday, November 18, which includes training and speakers at the hotel in the morning. Your travel, lodging and meals (except as noted above) are not included.

Lobby Day Only - General registration is $50 from June 15 to November 10; Door registration will be $75. (Lobby Day will include training and speakers at the hotel in the morning and an HIA Supporting membership. Your travel, lodging and meals are not included.)

Topic: Grassroots Support for Industrial Hemp in America

Fred Kirsch is the director of Hemp for America, a grassroots campaign organizing citizen support for Industrial Hemp legislation. Hemp for America has been traveling the country since May of this year knocking on doors, raising awareness of Hemp legislation, and organizing citizen support into a voice to be shared with key legislators. Hemp for America set out to answer a few questions: Will Americans speak up for Industrial Hemp? If so, will Congress listen and take action in response to constituent demand?

Mr. Kirsch has been working as a grassroots organizer since July, 2000. Prior to Hemp for America he founded Community for Sustainable Energy and has worked with multiple groups including Organic Consumers Association, Texas Campaign for the Environment, and Clean Water Action.

Topic: Hemp Agronomics - Seed to Soil; OSU Hemp Course

Ms. Hermann is from Joplin, Missouri, but is now based in Manitoba, Canada. She earned her M.Sc. in Hemp Fibre Agronomy at the University of Manitoba, a B.GS in Hemp Ecolonomics at Missouri Southern State University, is a Canadian Independent Professional Agrologist and an Authorized Health Canada Hemp Sampler. Anndrea is the President of the Hemp Industries Association (USA), Special Committee Member the Canadian Hemp Trade Alliance and is the owner of The Ridge International Cannabis Consulting, Hemp Technologies (Canada) and is an Instructor at Oregon State University WSE266 Industrial Hemp. She host the HempLife radio show, blogs, writes and continues to be a Champion for the hemp sector. With over 15 years experience in the Canadian & International Hemp Cannabis industry, she has a wide range of interdisciplinary skills. Cannabis is part of her "final vocabulary."

We have arranged for special room rates starting at $179 for Sunday and Monday nights at the Phoenix Park Hotel in Washington, DC.

Please note: Attendees are responsible for making their own room reservations. Early booking is highly recommended. Once our block of reserved rooms runs out, we cannot guarantee the hotel will have a room for you.
