WASHINGTON, DC - September 3, 2013 - We are very excited about the upcoming HIA Conference in Washington, DC, which will be held on Monday, November 17th-18th! We have been working on getting a wide range of very interesting speakers for the conference and look forward to hearing them speak on their topics. Two more of the speakers - Tony Budden, Hemporium and Erik Hunter, Hemp Cleans - are profiled below. Please check them out and register today!

After three years on the West Coast, we are pleased to head to Washington, DC and lobby Congress again as we did in 2009. Don't miss out on the great speakers and networking of the HIA Conference 2013, make your reservation today!

This year, after the suggestion of many members, we have also added a second day to the conference. This will be an Organized Lobby Day and you have the opportunity to attend one or both days.

2013 HIA Conference & Lobby Day - General registration is $300 from June 15 to September 30; Late registration will be $350 from October 1 to November 10; Door registration will be $400. (Subtract $50 per additional company attendee.) The registration fee includes lunch and dinner on Sunday, November 17. (The hotel offers breakfast in their restaurant next to The Dubliner pub.) It also includes attendance to our Annual General Meeting, panel discussions and awards dinner, as well as the opportunity to network with other members. It also includes the Lobby Day on Monday, November 18, which includes training and speakers at the hotel in the morning. Your travel, lodging and meals (except as noted above) are not included.

Lobby Day Only - General registration is $50 from June 15 to November 10; Door registration will be $75. (Lobby Day will include training and speakers at the hotel in the morning and an HIA Supporting membership. Your travel, lodging and meals are not included.)

Tony Budden, Hemporium
Topic: Hemp's potential for sustainable change in Africa

Tony is a partner in Hemporium, South Africa's premier hemp company. Hemporium has been producing hemp clothing locally since 1996 and has an eco-clothing range that showcases the benefits of natural fibres and using sustainable textiles as well as having a commitment to local garment manufacture.

He is involved in South Africa's Commercial Incubation Hemp Research Trials, moving towards a legitimate hemp industry so that South Africa can take advantage of all the jobs, houses and nutrition it would create.

He is passionate about raising environmental issue awareness, and hopes to play a part implementing in the changes necessary to correct the ecological balance of our planet.

Erik Hunter, Hemp Cleans
Topic: The Current Status of Industrial Hemp Agriculture in Colorado

Dr. Erik Hunter received his Ph.D. and Master's Degrees in Mining and Earth Systems Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines. Prior to co-founding The Rocky Mountain Hemp Association, Erik conducted exploration operations and for Shawnee Mission Mining, worked as an industrial and commercial real estate salesperson with Kessinger/Hunter and Company, and worked as a news photographer for KCTV in Kansas City. He currently holds real estate licenses in Kansas and Missouri. In addition, he was a founding member of Hemp Cleans.

His association with Hemp Cleans began in January 2012 with testimony on Colorado House Bill 12-1099, the passage of which led to the establishment of the Phytoremediation Pilot Program. Since the passage of 12-1099, Erik has been actively involved in researching hemp cultivation, hemp processing and phytoremediation.

We have arranged for special room rates starting at $179 for Sunday and Monday nights at the Phoenix Park Hotel in Washington, DC.

Please note: Attendees are responsible for making their own room reservations. Early booking is highly recommended. Once our block of reserved rooms runs out, we cannot guarantee the hotel will have a room for you.

You must make your reservation by Wednesday, October 16 to get the HIA group rate. The hotel will accept reservations from attendees after the cut-off date only on a space- and rate-available basis.
