WASHINGTON, DC - August 12, 2013 - We are very excited about the upcoming HIA Conference in Washington, DC, which will be held on Monday, November 17th-18th! We have been working on getting a wide range of very interesting speakers for the conference and look forward to hearing them speak on their topics. Two of the speakers - Kevin Greenwood, VP Marketing, Manitoba Harvest Hemp Foods and Christina Volgyesi, Director of Marketing, Dr. Bronner's Magic Soaps and Hemp History Week Project Coordinator - are profiled below. This year, after the suggestion of many members, we have also added a second day to the conference. This will be an Organized Lobby Day and you have the opportunity to attend one or both days.

2013 HIA Conference & Lobby Day - General registration is $300 from June 15 to September 30; Late registration will be $350 from October 1 to November 10; Door registration will be $400. (Subtract $50 per additional company attendee.) The registration fee includes lunch and dinner on Sunday, November 17. (The hotel offers breakfast in their restaurant next to The Dubliner pub.) It also includes attendance to our Annual General Meeting, panel discussions and awards dinner, as well as the opportunity to network with other members. It also includes the Lobby Day on Monday, November 18, which includes training and speakers at the hotel in the morning. Your travel, lodging and meals (except as noted above) are not included.

Lobby Day Only - General registration is $50 from June 15 to November 10; Door registration will be $75. (Lobby Day will include training and speakers at the hotel in the morning and an HIA Supporting membership. Your travel, lodging and meals are not included.)

Kevin Greenwood, VP Marketing Manitoba Harvest Hemp Foods
Topic: Manitoba Harvest's Business Model and the Canadian Hemp Landscape*

Kevin has nearly 30 years of experience in the food and consumer packaged goods industry, holding various management positions in Marketing, Operations, and Finance. Since joining Manitoba Harvest Hemp Foods in 2010, Kevin has helped the company grow close to 200%. Previous to Manitoba Harvest, Kevin was with Nature's Path where he was part of the group that took the DEA to court over the temporary ban of hemp foods to the United States.

Kevin holds a Masters of Business Administration from University of Toronto's Rotman School of Management. He currently sits on the Canadian Hemp Trade Alliance Board of Directors. In his spare time, Kevin is an avid rock climber and enjoys various outdoor activities.

Topic: Hemp History Week Report

Christina Volgyesi will share campaign details of the fourth annual Hemp History Week, plans for the fifth in June 2014, and discuss how you can get involved in supporting the re-legalization of hemp farming in America.

With fifteen years of experience in sales and marketing, Christina Volgyesi became a founding partner of Living Harvest Foods in 2003. While president she was responsible for the nationwide U.S. roll out of the best-selling hemp milk, which tripled company sales in year one. In her role as marketing director she managed the re-branding of the grocery line to Tempt, and launched the first U.S. hemp-based frozen-dessert line. Over the past four years, Christina has shifted her focus to hemp advocacy working with the HIA project coordinating and designing Hemp History Week. She also played a role in helping Oregon pass hemp farming legislation via lobbying efforts and testifying at the committee hearing. Christina also serves on the board of directors of Vote Hemp.

We have arranged for special room rates starting at $179 for Sunday and Monday nights at the Phoenix Park Hotel in Washington, DC.

Please note: Attendees are responsible for making their own room reservations. Early booking is highly recommended. Once our block of reserved rooms runs out, we cannot guarantee the hotel will have a room for you.

You must make your reservation by Wednesday, October 16 to get the HIA group rate. The hotel will accept reservations from attendees after the cut-off date only on a space- and rate-available basis.
