SAN FRANCISCO, CA - October 19, 2012 - Today is the last day to book reservations for rooms at the Holiday Inn - Civic Center for the HIA Conference. Attendees are responsible for making their own room reservations. Once our block of reserved rooms runs out, we cannot guarantee the hotel will have a room for you. You may call the hotel to make your reservation or you may book online. We are excited about the speakers for the upcoming HIA Conference in San Francisco, which will be held on Monday, November 12th. Two more of the speakers are profiled below. We are also pleased to announce that we have organized a field trip on Tuesday, November 13 at 10:30 am to visit the new Nutiva facility in Point Richmond, which will include a tour of the production lines and warehouse along with a short video and smoothies afterwords.

This year the HIA Conference will be after the Green Festival which will be held on Nov. 10-11 and immediately before Green Build which will be held Nov. 14-16. Dr. Grigoryev is the Leading Scientific Researcher at the Vavilov Institute of Plant Industry, where he has been since 1996. From 1986 to 1996 he was a Scientific Researcher at the Uzbek Institute of Cotton Breeding, Uzbekistan (former USSR).

Dr. Grigoryev holds a BS in Agronomics from the Moscow Agricultural Academy, Moscow, USSR, 1986; a Ph.D. in Agriculture, The Supreme Attestation Committee, Republic of Uzbekistan, 1995; and a Ph.D. Agriculture, The Supreme Attestation Committee of Russian Federation, Moscow, Russia, 1997.

Topic: Canadian Hemp Industry Update: Processors Perspective

Shaun Crew is the Founder and President of Hemp Oil Canada Inc. in Ste. Agathe, MB. Hemp Oil Canada is the largest producer and processor of hemp food products and ingredients serving the bulk wholesale and private label packaging markets in North America.

Shaun is one of the Canadian industrial hemp seed processing "pioneers" who has been instrumental in establishing a market that started from nothing and developing numerous products & processes that have helped to create the diverse hemp industry we have today for hemp seed oil & veggie green caps, hulled & toasted hemp seed, hemp protein powders & flours and hemp coffee.

Shaun started Hemp Oil Canada in February 1998, just one month before Health Canada re-legalized the cultivation of industrial hemp in Canada. Hemp Oil Canada started processing in January 1999 after 9 months of intensive research and development of processing and product development.

Shaun was a founding member of the Manitoba Industrial Hemp Association (MIHA) and one of the four original founding members of the Canadian Hemp Trade Alliance (CHTA) to which he has also served as President and as a Director. Shaun has also served as a Director with the U.S.-based Hemp Industries Association and remains active in a number of regional trade associations and economical development groups.

Academically, Shaun claims to have a Ph.D - meaning Promote Hemp Daily. He is married and resides about 30 seconds away from the head office in Ste. Agathe, MB along with his wife Judy and four boys.

Late Registration Fee - (first attendee): $300 per person September 1 to November 2. HIA Full Company Members may bring additional attendees (company employees) at a $50 discount each. All other attendees must be HIA Supporting Members. Please note that we have a 7 day cancellation policy for this event. There will be no refunds for cancellations after November 5th. (The registration fee will be $350 at the door.)

We have arranged for special room rates starting at just $103 for Sunday and Monday nights at the Holiday Inn - Civic Center. Through a special arrangement, the hotel is also offering the same room rates for a limited number of rooms for HIA members who are exhibiting at or attending the SF Green Festival, so you can conveniently stay there for both events. (You must stay at least one of the nights of the HIA Conference to get the special rate.) The hotel is close to the SF Concourse Exhibition Center where the SF Green Festival is being held.
