Speaker Profile

John Roulac, Nutiva
John Roulac, Founder & CEO of Nutiva
Topic: Hypergrowth in the Hemp & Superfood Industry

John Roulac will share with you the secret to Nutiva's success and hypergrowth in the natural products industry, as a leading hemp manufacturer, while sharing with us category and consumer hemp trends.

From the age of three, John was blessed to spend his summers playing among the tide pools and forests of the Pacific Northwest. When a truck driver dumped nuclear waste nine miles from the Roulac home, John began his central life journey-to study natural systems and discover practical solutions to pressing environmental challenges.

As an avid street basketball player, he learned to incorporate the use of natural foods, yoga, and acupuncture as ways to improve his game and overall health.

John has been a passionate advocate of holistic living for more than twenty years, working in the areas of whole foods, natural healing, organic farming, forestry, water and energy conservation, recycling and composting, and hemp agriculture. Founding Nutiva was a natural extension of John's dream of a society that places people above profits, one where access to wholesome and organic food is a God-given right for people everywhere.

This is the fourth consecutive year that Nutiva has made the Inc. magazine's list of 5,000 fastest-growing companies. Nutiva's loyal customer base and average annual growth rate of 55 percent have propelled them into a position of being a leader in nutrition and are now No. 2377 on the Inc. 5,000 list - and, with their move to a new 160,000 square food warehouse and production facility in Richmond, California, the company only stands to continue growing in future years, even in the midst of an otherwise flailing economy.

American Lime Technology is the North American distributor of Tradical¨ Hemcrete¨ construction materials, a highly sustainable hemp-lime product that can be used to create insulating walls in new structures or to retrofit existing floors, roofs, and walls with thermally efficient, breathable insulating layers.

In the United States, Mario was instrumental in getting the first Hemcrete buildings constructed in the U.S. in 2008. Since that time he has focused his energies on establishing a source of raw material in North America for the development of additional Hemcrete building structures.
